Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming support and well wishes from the public following her recent illness. The Vice President, who fell ill after work on Friday, March 28, was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday, March 29, for treatment.

In a statement from the Presidency, it was confirmed that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang received immediate medical attention at UGMC and is now in stable condition. While the exact nature of her illness was not disclosed, the statement reassured the public that she was being closely monitored and had been advised to seek further medical care abroad as a precautionary measure.

Speaking from the hospital, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang thanked Ghanaians for their support during this time. “I am deeply touched by the outpouring of love, prayers, and messages from citizens across the country. It has truly been a source of strength for me and my family,” she said. “I am grateful for the care and attention I’ve received, and I’m feeling better each day.”

The Vice President’s illness had sparked widespread concern, but her quick recovery and the public’s supportive response have been a source of reassurance. “It is humbling to witness the unity and kindness of the Ghanaian people. I want to assure everyone that I am on the road to recovery and will continue to serve the nation to the best of my ability,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang added.

The Presidency had earlier confirmed that the Vice President’s medical team was carefully managing her condition, and the necessary steps were being taken to ensure her continued health.

As she focuses on her recovery, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang has requested privacy for herself and her family during this period. She also thanked the public for respecting their space and understanding.

Further updates on her health will be shared as needed. In the meantime, the Vice President remains committed to her role in the government and looks forward to resuming her duties soon.
